Two osprey platforms were installed at Bamff in August 2022. The following year, a pair of Ospreys arrived in spring and immediately took an interest in both of them, before disappearing about a month later. There was much speculation about how they might return the following year and decide to stay to nest and breed.
Indeed, this is what happened, and the platform situated on one of Bamff’s hills became a nest for the pair (or possibly a different pair) that produced one osprey chick. Possibly the first baby osprey at Bamff for centuries, at the very least. Photos above are of the licensed specialist Lewis Pate (who also installed the platforms), who, in July 2024, climbed up to the platform and discovered the chick , taking the photos below.
