In February 2025, we removed some major areas of fencing, most notably the fencing between a number of former sheep fields. This has resulted in a much larger contiguous space, allowing far easier access to the beaver-affected riparian areas between the fields. Beaver activity will now be less encumbered than before, and the natural grazing herds can access these areas properly for the first time, while also allowing for new routes for the herds to establish, even crossing over shallow areas of water.
The result is one that feels like a significant step closer to a wilder landscape – and further away from cultivated farmland.
